The project is located along the old water channel in the northern part of the village, surrounded by natural wilderness. After research, we found that villagers have profound memories of the aqueduct and hope for a cool and relaxing space. Therefore, we decided to transform this aqueduct into a comfortable public covered bridge for daily use.
In terms of structural material selection, the " Covered Bridge on Aqueduct " adopts factory prefabricated engineered wood (CLT). The gap formed between the two roofs with different slopes optimizes the ventilation effect of the bridge, unloading sudden strong winds, and benefiting the overall safety of the structure. The roof uses lightweight corrugated sheets to mitigating the visual mass of the bridge. In terms of construction, we avoid the entry of large construction tools, maximizing the protection of the existing environment of the village. The stone used for the pavement of the entrance and exit comes from the Fengxi River.
